Autumn/Winter 10/11...

Style Trends for Hair... lookright

Autumn winter is a great season for style and the 2010/11 season brings structured shapes, fire tones and cool natural shades.

Our stylist give you some of their top tips for this season style trends for gorgeous, healthy hair that looks right on trend...

1. Texture - is the standout feature this season, adding a texturised focal point gives each style individuality. Little rebellious finishes encourage a "lived in look" . Get the look of “Polished grunge” - Try sprit-zing your hair with John Masters Organics- Salt Sea Spray or Paul Mitchell - Spray Wax. This will give hold with definition and texture..

2.Shorter is so cool - Shorter hair will become a chosen style for the high street fashionista. Undercutting techniques add militant masculine edges. These short cuts can be worn in a variety of ways smooth, with extreme texture or curl to suit your own expressions.

3. Fringes state the art - Fringes continue through the winter season in all hair lengths. Shattered, middle partings are perfectly accompanied with neatly structured curves, square, blunt, or sweeping fringes. Scruffy bobs are softened with bevelled edges and offer a soft yet masculine feel.

4. Hair Up - For a quirky “up style” try underpinning to reveal a choppy bob. Alternatively tuck hair into your winter jacket for a instant bob that also keeps you warm! Pony tails are another great style choice for this season. Anything goes. Crimping remains a great party look this season. It is a sure fast way of boosting volume. A word to the wise here is that crimping adds volume and really does help to get hair-up styling perfect. Micro crimpers give a fabulous party look to short hair.

5. Instant Volume - Heated rollers give greater volume for all lengths of hair. Clashing curls are easily achieved by simply rolling the curlers in different directions. A little backcombing with a Voguetti Pro Wonder Brush will knock out the glam-ness of previous seasons, give volume, texture and bring your look right up to date.

6. Heat Protect - Protecting your hair with “Paul Mitchell - Hot Off The Press” is a definite. This versatile product protects from all of the hot styling tools and has a memory formula which keeps the look for longer.

7. Scrunching – Paul Mitchell Root Boost and the Hot Sock are affordable essential tools for completing this look. Spray root boost into your hair and simply fit the Hot Sock to your hair dryer. It will diffuse the majority of air flow leaving just the heat which will allow you to scrunch and finger dry your hair. Scrunching is primarily a squeezing action, take a section of hair laying the ends into the palms of your hand and lifting your hair up towards the roots. Each section should lie in the palms in a curled shape. The squeezing combined with the heat will encourage and increase your natural movement. All Chi Artists can advise you during your service as we operate a commentary hairdressing policy to all of our guests. The Hot Sock retails for just £6.95.

8. Increase the Volume - If you love the movement in your hair when its wet but struggle to keep the same amount of movement when dry, then this service is for you. Volume Weave is a permanent wave technique used to enhance soft waves or increase curl definition. It will last up to 4 months and doesn’t leave any growing out issues. Best suited to natural hair.

9. Colour Goes Global - One technical service is the preferred choice. Focal points are achieved with hidden slices building a peek a boo effect. It is a great way to get colour impact without colour commitment. Soft subtle under tone textures without looking too overpowering.

• Black – Deep charcoal shades are a great alternative to the harsh true black. The charcoal tones give depth without the warmth of a chocolate brown. An emphasis should be made on keeping the shine. Richesse glossing will give intense shine and cope easily with any grey sparkles. Rest assured if you have more than the first few greys INOA is the product for you and will not compromise the glossy youthful finish.

• Brunettes – Cooling dark truffle tones and muted shades are complimented by autumn colours. Try mid length slices for a rebellious growing out feel. Cooling your brunette tones is current and will have an instant darker finish.

• Reds – Luscious shades with intense shine lean towards a single process, no dramatic highlights just a collection of vibrant tones. Mahogany and plums are for the trend conscious. INOA has an exclusive new season shade with plum vibrancy that is rich and warmly understated.

• Blondes – Cashmere and milky coffee tones are having a strong influence on the catwalks. Llayering these cooler shades can work on all the levels of lift from the dark blondettes to the creamy lighter blondes. The more adventurous can lean towards a full head blonde to enhance their short hair style.

10. Gentlemen's Grooming - Guys we encourage you to wear your style in a multitude of finishes to suit your environment. You change your clothes to set a mood or present an image, so why not do the same with your hair. A new look or variation on a style can give confidence and lift. . . Go on give it a go!

look rightMale Trends - Guys too are directed towards internal length and texture but the new movement is masculine clean sharp short edges. Texture and definition are key.

Colour - The use of a little colour (subtle or bold) gives individualism to your chosen style. Clear away any remaining sun bleached edges with a little colour to leave a healthy shine infused muted tone that follows the masculine colour pallette for this season. Keep within your natural colour margins.

Fringes and Finishes – Fringes can either be worn down and sweept to the side or lifted to expose all or part of the fore head for a fresh open look. Subtley implied or clearly defined partings are choice for the trend conscious male. Getting that cool looking matt finish is current and easily achieved with Paul Mitchell Matt Wax or for a stronger hold try LAB ESP. If product application is not your forte P.M Spray Wax is easy and quick. TIP -Do remember to apply your style enhancer throughout your hair.
