FAQ's, How to

BEFORE YOU RE-DESIGN … ask the BIG question…

The first big question is always – Do I need to restyle? The easy answer is that re-styling is a choice. Whether its a good choice depends on these 3 things.
  • Have you out grown your style? A lot of consideration goes into our style and when we find a perfect match it’s usually one that works with us in all areas of our lifestyle. Its the one… yay!

The thing is that life moves on and so do we. Before we know it. Our hair isn’t as complementing as it used to be. You’re suddenly gooey eyed over someone else’s confidently worn, beautifully accenting tresses. Make a note. You’re ready to re-style.

  • Do you re-evalute style regularly? Do you update your wardrobe each season? Either with a ruthlessly confident all change, or a subtle addition of key pieces?

Hair re-designs work in the same way you work your wardrobe. Hair being the consistent accessory to  any look. Keeping your hair design in line with your wardrobe makes style transitions easier,  more aligned and with choices readily accessible for any occassion. Discussing what you want from your hair with your stylist helps ensure you’re always enjoying what you wear from head to toe.

  • Need a confidence boost? – Most of the time we take everyday challenges and trials-of-life in our stride. But after a while we can be left feeling drained and flat. Even the most confidence of us needs a little boost every now and then. And it’s almost impossible to walk out of a salon without a little added spring in your step. Not only is your hair softer, silkier and bouncier than ever, but you’ll also spend the next week graciously accepting compliments from your friends, family and co-workers.

  • Image transformation time? – One of the top five reasons women change their hair is because they want to reinvent themselves. Fair call, really.

But there is a really useful notion here. The confidence boost together with expressing a different side of our personality has real impact on those around us and also how we feel about the person looking back at us in the mirror. The brain and eyes are still at core a very advanced self developing computer. And when you show someone a confident, beautiful person, the brain has no option but to accept what it sees. Now about that new job, or promotion or landing a fantastic new client that can transform your business. Maybe its a first date or new twist with a long term flame. Transforming style can be incredibly eye opening when expertly crafted.

The Choice

The final choice is always yours. We are happy to recommend and many of our guests trust us implicitly to manage all their hair design aspects. We have a range of tools to show different features of hair design and each redesign is bespoke.
The secret that you and professional stylists know is that you have quite a few style options that work perfectly with your features and lifestyle. These provide the perfect starting point to update, refresh and re-imagine our look.

The Cleanse & Preparation

Most of our cutting redesign services require wet hair. So when you are happy to proceed we first take the opportunity to refresh the hair with cleansing and also conditioning if required.

Eco Friendly

You can relax in our comfortable fully upholstered reclining chairs where the shower-head has an environmentally friendly design that doubles water pressure while reducing the amount of water used. Powerful water stream combined with a small holes shower-plate act together as skin massage, offering a relaxing experience from start to finish. Thanks to the purifying qualities of the filter screens, the unique filtration-system helps to reduce chlorine and generates negative ions as water goes through, which softens the hair for a smoother end result.

Refreshments

Quality continues even here. Choose from fresh ground coffee or a selection of teas and cool drinks. All served with our care and attention.

The Design & Style

Working to the ideas and brief from your consultation your stylist creates the technical style elements onto wet hair while you relax. We always like to dry & style the hair to check the final look and refine. Its also a great opportunity for you to see and highlight any adjustments you would like to personalise the design further.

How to

with some candid chatter & free  coffee our salon professionals share quick tips for your product professionalism and improve your style game

Use shampoo correctly

Firstly I cannot stress enough the importance of a good shampoo. Ask for professional advice on this one and don’t just choose one that has nice bubbles. Shampoo is for cleaning the scalp because that is where the oils and product build up. The hair strands are sufficiently cleaned by the bubbles from your shampoo lather. But do not rub shampoo into the strains of your hair as this can rough it up and damage it

Condition yourself to shine

Conditioner – should be applied to mid lengths and ends before rinsing. This will smooth the cuticle protect and shield the surface of the hair. And hair will appear more reflective and glossier making it look and feel healthier.

Take a pause to improve your style

Next time you jump out of the shower and towel wrap your hair. Before you reach for the dryer take a minute prepare your hair canvas. Apply your styling products to towel dried damp hair. Distribute evenly and comb through (unless your hair is curly in which case simply apply and shake through). Your hair will thank you by being more manageable. It will style more easily and shape up better and crucially, it only takes a minute to apply styling products effectively.

Make a professional choice

As a rule of thumb select professional only products. Usually they are more concentrated and therefore a little goes a long way. Selecting for your hair type, texture and styling requirements will get the best results. Your stylist can help with a bespoke and prescriptive choices that will work for you. Your hair can feel fantastic after you leave the salon and lose its lustre over time. Your stylist should recommend the ideal products for you.

Know when to run dry

Finishing products such as wax, putty, serum and hairspray’s. Always apply to dry hair and style as advised.

Treat hair like silk not cotton

We’re talking about Hot Styling tools – always protect the hair with a heat protection styling spray before you use hot tools and treat your hair as if it was silk rather than cotton. So turn the temperature of your tools down! Only the very strongest of hair requires intense heat. All electrical tools are temperature adjustable. And a Finishing school service is available to teach you how to use the tools to best effect and minimise damage to your hair.

Upgrade tools regularly

Brushes should be replaced as regularly as every 12 months. Do not allow brushes to become worn as they will damage your hair.

The quick summary

The improvements in science and knowledge gives a place we can pick really effect solutions. The trick is  1 2 3..
  1. Ask good questions – start from where you are at now – doesn’t matter if you don’t have a big picture. Talk about what you try to do and why you are doing it. Your stylist will be able to see key areas where small changes can help
  2. Use good things – your shampoo, conditioners, combs, brushes and dryers al have a job to do. Get ones that do the job YOU need them to do. what works for your best friend, boyfriend or girlfriend may not be the ideal choice for you.
  3. Use it correctly – bad styling habits can damage your hair and undo the good work your stylist puts into it. Try our finishing school service where we show you how to use your own styling tools the best way. Great if your changing your style or if you’re going to be away from your trusted stylist for a long while.
